sad day for the Three Lions, happy day for our Neighbors to the North
-England may have lost their match today to Portugal on penalty kicks after regulation and overtime....but does Portugal have lines written about it like this by writers like him:
This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,--
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.
-William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), "King Richard II", Act 2 scene 1
...I thought not, since Portugal is the size of my kitchen and has been historically insignificant for centuries.
-Happy Birthday to Canada!!! I would raise a bottle of your finest beer, Steam Whistle, in your honor...BUT YOU WON'T IMPORT IT, YOU SELFISH CANUCK BASTARDS!!!!

-today in 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg began as advance units of the Union Army of the Potomac (George G. Meade commanding) and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia (Robert E. Lee commanding) classed in and around the tiny, previously insignificant village of Gettysburg. On July 1 Confederate forces met with early success and drove Union forces through the town and onto Cemetery Ridge....unfortunately for the Rebels because the Union the controlled the best ground on the battlefield
