Toledo Cartoon Hens

The Toledo Mud Hens announced this morning that they had changed their logos. The logo to the top left is the primary logo they've used, in some form or another, since baseball came back to Toledo in the 1950s I believe. Its what my hat and most of my t-shirts have on it. And exactly because of that the new Hens logo is the one next to that. Merchandizing baby...who cares if it was drawn by a junior high art student...who's retarded.

The first one here is the logo on my hat that they've used forever. It is now being replaced by the one next to it. Sure the new one is more realistic (realistic? like a giant yellow bird can be), but there is something to be said for tradition. It is baseball for christsakes. This is also the logo that Baseball America called one of the top 5 logos in all of minor league baseball because "you don't beat tradition". Now the Hens email announcing the change were quick to reassure traditionalists on this one: "The full-body Muddy is an up-to-date, 3-D version of the classic Muddy the Mud Hen logo made famous by Toledoan Jamie Farr during his role as Corporate Klinger on the television show M*A*S*H. Don't worry...the old Muddy isn't going away forever! The Mud Hens are still planning to use the classic "T" logo featuring this classic version of Muddy the Mud Hen." hmm...I'm not reassured

This last change above is the newer secondary logo that the Hens have only used since 2002 so no big deal here.
And of course the Hens will have yet another new uniform...the third one in the short history of the new ballpark. I hate this....I know when you change things up people will buy more merchandize. But come on....the Hens make more money than any other minor league team already, especially in merchandize sales. How can we have traditions if you change uniforms every few years. Eastern does this and it annoyed the hell outta me. Classy organizations and schools have the same uniform they had 50 years ago. I hate this....though it is still my beloved Mud Hens and maybe this Looney Tunes Muddy will grow on me. What do you think? Comment on what you think of the new Mud Hens logos.

MILESTONE ALERT: THIS IS THE 100TH POST IN THE HISTORY OF KILLING TIME TIL A CUBS PENNANT!!!!!
